The fun-filled weekends, albeit stress-filled for the parents, are continuing to come hard and fast. This weekend saw us take the youth to two races in Meath with some super results and ensuring that Sticky bottle is writing the name Lakeside in their notes on both days.

On Saturday 5 of our youth attended the Pat Howard Memorial in Ardcath Co. Meath. Caoimhe and Aoife O’Brien continue their winning streak with 1st and 5th in the combined Boys Under 12 and Girls Under 12/14 race. Caoimhe’s win was a spectacle as she led the field by more than 500 meters up a 1km climb to the finish line to take the win.

In the Under 14 boys and Under 16 girls race we had Conor, Aaron and Naomi competing and an impressive race followed where Conor and Aaron ensured that the current road National champion earned his win on the day. Conor took a very solid 4th place and Aaron took 6th, both continuing to improve week on week. Naomi continues to fly the flag for the girls and followed the boys shortly to the finish line getting stronger every week, they better watch out !.

Thanks to Jerry for turning up and supporting the youths, better be careful , there are team mechanics jobs going and you might just get one and you are not allowed to sign anyone over to Kanturck CC as club secretary , we are keeping them all!

On Sunday we hit the road again. It was not looking to be a dry spin to take on the Stamullen GP in Meath. Delighted that the weather folks were right and the day cleared for a dry race , although the leg warmers are required for a little while longer we think. We had a good representation again this day with Conor , Aaron and Naomi racing and we got to watch our Juniors duke it out with the A3’s when Conor Canton and Dave Boyne took to the course.

While the Under 14 race was a hilly and short race the intense finish made for great spectating . The Lakeside Wheelers flag was flown high with Aaron taking a very close 3rd place and Conor taking 4th in a very fast finish sprint through Atamullen village.

All in all a terrific weekend for the Lakeside Youths and they flew our flag high and bright . Looking forward to Rás na n-Óg next weekend where we will have a strong contingent taking to the roads of Drogheda .

A special apology has to go out to our riders that stayed at home this weekend. We failed to put a session on in place while the others were away which was not our intention and happened by accident. We will ensure that even though we have some youth travelling that we will proved training rides at home in future. A miss on our part.
