Last Sunday both our ladies' and men’s teams were represented in Co. Tipperary at the “Visit Nenagh Classic” festival of racing. This weekend of international cycling is fast becoming one of the main races on the Irish cycling calendar. With races for all categories, Lakeside Wheelers had competitors in the Ladies and A4 events.

Results at time of writing were a fine 8th position for Michelle O’Halloran which is an excellent result on one of the most difficult racing circuits of the year. Well done Michelle on another great performance and congratulations also to the team who were around her, Aishling Flanagan, Sonja O’Mahoney and Nicole Gorry. Unfortunately the lads were somewhat less lucky with both Joe Kenny and Aidan Gorry getting caught behind separate crashes which hampered their efforts for the day. Bad luck lads but as you will know, that’s bike racing!

Wheelers also had representation up north in Co. Fermanagh at the Lakeland CC Two-Day event. Roy Carey and Dave Fagan were wearing the club colours in this one and for two lads who haven’t been cycling that much as yet in 2016, they both did very well to complete this event in the top 50 on General Classification so congratulations and well done boys.

I’m sure all racers will join in wishing Eoghan Kevlihan continued good luck with his recovery following a crash a couple of weeks ago in Laois. Hopefully he will be back in the saddle very soon.
