On Thursday 9th May Lakeside Wheelers hosted Round 3 of the Midland League in Dysart. Wet and windy conditions awaited all the riders and as a result numbers at sign on were down on previous rounds. Both the A/B and C/D categories had to complete 4 laps of the 8.5 km circuit. First race off on the evening was the A/B group. With 9 signed on in the B's and only 5 in the A group the handicap was brought back considerably. The A group worked hard and reeled in the B's on the first lap. Eoin Lynch was in a solo breakaway at the time and was able to latch on with the A's when they rode through the main bunch. These 4 riders managed to stay away and the finish came down to a sprint with Eoin Lynch taking 1st, John Murray 3rd and Peter Rimmer 4th. The chasing bunch contested the remaining points with Robbie Kenny taking 6th, Eoghan Kevlihan 9th and Charlie Sheridan 10th.

The next race to be contested was the C/D category. The 18 strong D group set off first with a 3 minute advantage over the chasing C group which contained 27 riders. A break from the C group containing 2 riders managed to bridge the gap over the the D group. These 2 riders also managed to break clear of the D group before the C and D groups merged on the 3rd lap. These 2 riders stayed away to the finish so the remaining points were to be got in a bunch sprint. Wheelers Thomas Kilmurray got 4th, John Tully 5th and Seamus Moran 7th. Thanks to everyone who came out on a cold and wet evening to organise and marshal the event.
