Sportive Update

The Leinster Loop took place a week ago and as usual there was a selection of Lakeside Wheelers riders in attendance. This sportive which is based in Narraghmore, Co. Kildare and is aligned to the National Breast Cancer Research Institute for fund raising is one of the biggest on the annual calendar. The 130km route covers a lot of the roads used for the famous Des Hanlon race around Kilkenny and Carlow so hills, hills and more hills is the story of the day. Nevertheless the day was fine and everybody enjoyed a great spin with several participants choosing to have their photo taken afterwards with event ambassador, Damien Shaw of the An Post Chainreaction Seán Kelly racing team. Well done to the organisers on a big community effort and roll on Leinster Loop 2018.

Pat Colgan Challenge

The annual Pat Colgan sportive which is organised by Tullamore Cycling Club takes place next Sunday, August 27th. So, if you are looking for a good spin then look no further as this event is always well organised and has something for everyone with a route over the Slieve Blooms for the “mountain goats” or, if you don’t fancy the hardship there is an alternative flatter route. Check out the Social Media pages for more info and get yourselves over to the Faithful County to support our neighbouring club.
