Punctures Galore for B Group Spring Outing

About 20 B-Group cyclists gathered in the Army Barracks on a beautiful spring morning. The peloton was divided into two groups a fast Bs, and the rest. Yours truly was with the rest. With a slight easterly breeze the route was decided Killucan – Balivor – Rathmoylan – Enfield and straight home by the old N4.

Everything was going swimmingly until we reached the well-manicured highways and byways of south Meath. It was then to everyone’s consternation that the dreaded puncture fairy struck. The initial puncture was fixed but shortly thereafter he struck again. At this stage, half the rest group was advised to carry on while the real puncture engineers rolled up their sleeves. These experts produced foam, talked about grass and chewed the cud so-to-speak for quite some time before the culprit a piece of plastic lever was discovered in the wheel from the first puncture repair.

Back on the bikes with the other half of the group probably halfway to Mullingar by now, we cruised along the old N4 with no more drama but probably a few APBs out for us as the clock said 14:00 as we wheeled into Mullingar. Well done to all on a great spin in lovely conditions.
