Boyne GP

On Sunday 2nd June Lakeside Wheelers had a team of 5 at the Boyne GP in Co. Meath. We were represented in A1 by John Murray, in A3 by Billy Cunnane, Robbie Kenny and Dave Fagan and in A4 by Charlie Sheridan. The A1 race was over 7 laps of a 12km loop. John acquitted himself very well finishing in the bunch.

Next race was the A3 race which was contested over 6 laps of the 12km circuit. Dave Fagan was unfortunate to have a mechanical at the start which left him out of contention. There were numerous attacks throughout the race with the winning solo break going clear on lap 4 when the bunch sat up with nobody willing to work.

The remaining points were to be got in a bunch sprint with Billy and Robbie finishing well up in the bunch. The last race of the day was the A4's who had to complete 5 laps of the 12km circuit. Charlie acquitted himself very well, finishing strongly in the bunch sprint.

are all set for racing in the Boyne GP

Enfield Grand Prix

After some aggressive riding all the groups were back together on lap 3 with numerous attacks being made but nothing getting clear. The finish came down to a bunch sprint with Damien Shaw riding with the Aquablue team getting 8th, Billy getting 2nd unplaced A3 and Richie Lenehan getting a well deserved prize for 1st unplaced A4. Average speed on the evening was 43.5km/hr. Well done to all Wheelers who took part.

The main event of the evening was the senior race which was to be contested over 6 laps of an 8.5km circuit. Clear blue skies and 25 degrees awaited all 95 riders as they lined up at the start. We were very well represented across all categories. The A4 bunch set off first with a 2 minute advantage on the chasing A3's which in turn had a 2 minute advantage on the chasing A1/A2 bunch.

Next off was the U16 race in which we were represented by Conor Canton. Conor rode very strongly throughout and got a well deserved 5th for all his work. The future of the club is in our youth and it's great to see the lads flying the flag for us. Keep up the good work lads.

On Tuesday 4th June, our neighbours Clonard Road Club hosted the Enfield Grand Prix. The evening's racing was over a challenging circuit 8.5km circuit west of Enfield with unusually a downhill finish on the old N4.

Race organisers decided this year to run separate underage races which proved to be a great success. Jack Cunanne lined up in the U14 bunch for his first ever open race. Jack acquitted himself very well and managed to get 5th overall. Well done Jack, great performance in your first outing - a chip off the old block for sure.
