SPROCKET ROCKETS UPDATE

The Club recently introduced the Sprocket Rocket programme for children. The aim of the programme is to provide a strong cycling foundation in skills development and foster enjoyment in cycling. The emphasis of the programme over the coming 4 weeks will be to nurture and develop pedalling, balance, braking and cornering skills. The course is now complete. The picture attached shows the participants receiving their sprocket rocket certificates. Well done to all involved.

Charleville Two Day Road Race

On the weekend of 3rd and 4th September all roads lead to the Charleville 2-day road race. Lakeside Wheelers had a team of five competing in the A2/A3 race. The team consisted of Tosh Kiernan, Stuart Cox, Mike Cafferkey, Ian Lambden and Mikey Flaherty. We were represented in A4 by Ronan Bracken. All the lads represented the club very well and placed well in their respective groups. The weather thankfully was decent for racing which is always a bonus. This now concludes the racing for this year. Roll on the 2023 season. A special word of thanks go to Moss Keane and Billy Cunnane for doing race support. Well done to all.

B Group Regroup

It was a bit like welcome back strangers in the B group as some old heads fresh from their exploits overseas came back into the LSW fold and under the guidance of Eugene Duffy last Sunday. It was a lovely relaxing (sort of for some ) spin in nice Autumn sunshine despite some dire warnings from Met Eireann earlier in the weekend. A little over 80Km recorded through some rolling Westmeath countryside.

Final Wednesday Evening Spin

This Wednesday coming, September 7^th will be the last of the midweek summer spins as we move into Autumn. We’ve had a good Summer of cycling conditions so fingers crossed we can finish this week on another good one.

The Club Christmas Party

The Club Christmas Party and awards night set for Saturday December 3rd in the Annebrook House Hotel.
