Now that the August Bank Holiday is behind us the cycling season is heading into the closing stages for competitive events. The Youths are still leading the charge with some very impressive performances in recent weeks. The following snippets have been submitted by Youths Rep. Camillus Farrell and it must be said, Camillus has done an excellent job all summer keeping the club updated with all matters relating to the younger members.

Youths:

Aoife O’Brien took first place in the Women's Commission Road Race Series at Corkagh Park (July 24th) hosted by Arcane Women's Team.

Donore

Caoimhe and Aoife O’Brien took first place in their category, namely U16 girls and U14 girls. Tommy Hogan, Leo Gunning and Conor N Farrell took part in the U16 boy’s race and acquitted themselves very well. Tommy led the race after two laps with Leo earning a top 10 finish.

Conor T. Farrell took part in the A1/A2/A3/Junior race. He finished in the main bunch after missing a decisive break early in the race.

The same weekend Mikey Flaherty travelled to Newcastle West in Co. Limerick and participated in a TT and Road Race where he completed both events and was very satisfied with how he rode.

Best of luck to Caoimhe, Aoife, Leo, Tommy, Conor N. and Mikey who are all travelling to Letterkenny over the Bank Holiday weekend to take part in the Errigal International Youth Tour. There will be a full report on how this event went in next week’s notes.

Juniors

Conor T. Farrell took victory in the Enybegs leg of the Midlands League last week. This was yet another good ride by Conor who has really stepped up a level over the course of this year. Hopefully he will continue to develop and learn his craft even more over the remainder of the season and claim another victory or two before the winter.
