An eventful race today saw Michelle O'Halloran take an impressive bunch sprint in the Women's National League Race. Two riders stayed away in the later stages of the race after some dubious marshalling ensured them a big gap.

Third place hopefully keeps her firmly on target for a podium place in the league overall, which comes to a conclusion with the final race on the 24th August. Michelle was delighted with her finish which saw her get the better of a big group of twenty or so riders on a very tricky downhill run in for the sprint.

Unfortunately Michelle was riding on her own today as other commitments kept Sonja O'Mahoney and Aisling Flanagan away from racing. That made the racing even harder for Michelle as team tactics started to play out as the raced developed. The league has now had six races, at each race The Lakeside Wheelers have been able to provide support in the form of follow car and helpers. This has helped make the results possible and even three weeks earlier ensure not only a finish but a podium after a mechanical for Michelle. Thanks to Paul Daley, Dylan Franzoni and Steven Franzoni (me) today for helping.
