On Thursday 8th May Lakeside Wheelers hosted round 3 of the Midland League in Dysart. A 9km lap to be completed 4 times awaited all the riders. There was a great turn out of Wheelers across all categories.

First race off on the evening was the A/B race. The B group containing 21 riders got a 1 minute advantage on the chasing A group which contained 10 riders. The A group caught the B's on lap 2 with Eoin Lynch of DID wasting no time in attacking the bunch on the climb. Eoin put in a strong ride out front but was unlucky to be caught by the eager chasing bunch on the run up to the finish. In the bunch sprint Eoin managed to get 3rd and Stuart Cox 5th.

The next race off was the C/D race. The D group containing 10 riders got a 3 minute advantage on the chasing C group of 27 riders. 7 D riders managed to forge ahead and stayed away to the finish with Eric Smith, competing in his first Midland League, getting 5th in the sprint. The remaining points were to be fought out in the chasing bunch sprint with Moss Keane first across the line in 7th and Derek Sheerin 9th.

Race organiser on the evening was Colm Lynch and Head Marshall was Paul Crowley. Thanks to all who helped out on the evening especially Joe Duffy for the photo finish and Aidan Fox on Video. The next Midland League report will be on Round 4 which is taking place in Birr on Thursday 15th May starting at 7pm. Minimum of a club competition licence is required at sign on.
