Yet another busy weekend of racing last weekend with Lakeside Wheelers represented in Navan & Mondello, Eoghan Kevlihan taking a very impressive 5th over in Mondello and Matt Burke a hard earned 10th in Navan.

Sean Nolan Navan GP

On Sunday 9th June we had a team of 4 in Co. Meath to take part in the Sean Nolan Navan GP. Beautiful weather and dry road conditions awaited all the riders. First race off on the day was the A1/A2 category over a distance of 120km where we were represented by John Murray. The winning breakaway went clear early in the race and stayed away to the finish. John finished strongly in the chasing bunch. Charlie Sheridan, Matt Burke and Roy Carey represented us in the A4 race which was over a distance of 84km. All the lads acquitted themselves very well getting into breaks but none were successful. The finish came down to a bunch sprint with best placed wheeler Matt Burke finishing just outside the points in 10th position.

Round 3 Mondello Race Series

On Tuesday 11th June Eoghan Kevlihan travelled to Mondello Park in Co. Kildare for round 3 of the Bikeworx open race series. This event was hosted by Usher Irish Road Club and Naas CC on the full international race circuit. Due to very wet weather the race was ran for 35mins +3 laps. A total of 51 riders signed on across all categories. This was a handicapped event with the A4's setting off first with a time advantage on the A3's, who in turn had an advantage on the A2's and the A1's then setting off last. The A4 bunch worked well together with only 3 A1/A2 riders making it across to them and riding through the group. This 3 man breakaway stayed away to the finish. The remaining prizes were to be got in a bunch sprint with Eoghan taking a well deserved 5th overall.
