On Sunday 26th October a team of 6 travelled to Tymon Park in South Co. Dublin to compete in Round 2 of the Fixx Supercross Cup. For anyone unfamiliar with cyclocross, races typically take place in the autumn and winter and consist of many laps of a short (2.5–3.5km) course featuring pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills and obstacles requiring the rider to quickly dismount, carry the bike while navigating the obstruction and remount.

The weather stayed dry for all the races with the U6,U8,U10 and U12's being ran off first with the emphasis on fun and by all accounts they had a blast. It's great to see the youth getting a chance to try out this ever increasing popular sport. It's also a great family day out and well worth a try.

The next report will be on round 3 which is taking place on Sunday 16th November with the venue still to be decided.

The first race off on the day for the seniors was the B race containing 110 riders, which was over 7 laps of the technical course and lasted an hour. We were represented here by Billy Cunnane, Eoghan Kevlihan, Paul Crowley, Peter Rimmer and Stuart Cox. The pace was high from the start with the bunch well strung out by lap 3. All the lads put in a strong performance with Stuart Cox taking the well deserved win and Peter Rimmer managing to finish 5th.

Next race off was the A race which was also over 7 laps. Richie Lenehan was upgraded this year to the A's after finishing 4th overall in the B league last year. From the drop of the flag the attacks began with the winning break forging ahead by lap 2. Robin Seymor controlled the race from the front and secured a very creditable win. Richie rode a strong race throughout and finished in one of chasing groups.
