After a few years absence the Club Hill Climb TT (Time Trial) was back on the calendar in October with a vengeance! A hill climb TT is, well, a race against the clock up a short hill.

A good turnout at the clubhouse led to a quick discussion on the route to bring the groups to Rochfortbridge for the TT. It was decided to go via Kinnegad and Milltownpass which would surely have everybody warmed up for Gneevebawn Hill. Two groups took to the road and with a tail wind to Kinnegad we made great time but, when we turned for Milltownpass it quickly became apparent that the wind was not going to be favouring us as we tackled the TT on Gneevebawn.

Thanks to Jerry Waugh, Phil and Naomi Wade and Eamon Hogan who were chief time keepers we had very little down time before we took to the start line. In all we had 23 participants from the young with the not so young putting in some great times on a tough hill made harder by the cross headwind. After the finish line most of the riders continued on to Kilbeggan for a well earned cuppa. With time against us we headed for home via Ballinagore and Dalystown and as usual there was a little kick thrown in near Mullingar for good measure.

As well as the previously mentioned start team, thanks are also due to Mark Horohoe who did a great job of holding everybody on the start line and Donie Kelleher for his photography skills! Results will be announced at the Christmas party!

Just some of the large turnout for the 2017 edition of the Club Hill Climb.
