A/B Group spin Sunday 30th May 2021

It felt more like cycling on the continent last Sunday with perfect sunny conditions as once again big numbers turned out for both A and B groups for Lakeside Wheelers. As has been the norm for the last few years, the routes for our Sunday cycles are posted on Facebook a few days in advance of the cycle itself. This gives everyone a chance to familiarise themselves with the chosen routes and download them to their Garmin which then provides turn by turn instructions and eases the workload on group leaders. Eugene Duffy led a B group on a relatively flat course which covered just shy of 90 kilometres. While we did suffer a number of punctures along the way, these were dealt with quickly so we barely broke our stride. Mullingar onto Horseleap then across a road which a number of us had never been on before, took us into Clara. From there we it was straight back to Kilbeggan for our coffee stop. The coffee stop is an integral and vital part of every spin. Not only does it give everyone a chance to rehydrate and take on some food but it also allows cyclists to chat and get to know each other. From Kilbeggan we made our way down the old N6 Road, and after Milltownpass we cut across a side road to Coralstown & to Killucan. From there we headed to Croghan and left for home. A wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning.
