Four of our wheelers competed in the Kilmessan GP on Sunday 12th August. It consisted of a flat and fast 14km loop on with good conditions. In the A1/2/3 race Damien Shaw blitzed the tempo and again proved what a class cyclist he is. He took off on and early break again on the second of 6 laps. However, his solo break was somewhat interrupted when, due to bad marshalling, took a wrong turn! He regained his composure caught back up on the bunch and instigated yet another break of three. This then turned into a break of two, himself and Fiachra O'Mhuire of DID Dunboyne. They both took it all the way to the finish over 30 seconds from the next group. However, Shaw was pipped on the line when O'Mhuire sat behind Shaw in the last 2 km and managed to get a wheel length ahead at the end.

Well done also to Brian Collentine who rode a strong race and finished well up in the sprint.

In the A4 race it came down to a bunch sprint, despite good efforts from Eoghan Kevlihan and Mark Monaghan to form breaks all day.

Indeed Mark’s solo effort 1 km from the finish line almost paved the win for him but a determined bunch had other ideas and caught him with less than 300 meters to the line. Well done Mark ‘he who dares wins (well almost!)’.
