Racer's Training Day

An expectant group gathered this morning for our first training camp of the year. The Mullingar Lakeside Wheelers crew (and a few Oldcastle blow-ins) gathered early for their day of torture, sorry I mean learning. A mixture of experienced and novice racers from young to old were in attendance.

Peter Rimmer, Stuart Cox and I were on hand to dish out some information on planning this year’s racing. After an hours or so debate or maybe lecture depending on your opinion, two groups hit the road for a bit of drilling in the art of racing. This culminated in a couple of races to test out our legs or see who's on form.

The day finished with a great talk and practical demonstration on how to train your head by Jerry O'Doherty. Can't remember the last 10 minutes of this because I think he had us all in a trance but I hope I didn't sign too much away.

Many thanks to all for coming out, I told you it wouldn't rain and of course Jerry for all the great information. Now it's time to put what we learnt into practice and get racing good luck.
