The Midland League (MIL) commenced in late April and next Thursday it is the turn of
Lakeside Wheelers to host a round of this very popular summer series of races. The MiL is a
race league organised locally and open to riders from clubs in Westmeath, Laois, Longford
and Offaly. It is a very competitive series and has been the gateway to open racing for many
midlands based riders over the last 10 years.
Lakeside Wheelers is responsible for organising two rounds this year and next Thursday all
roads lead to Dalystown where the first of these two races starts. As usual marshals are the
vital cog in the wheel of bike racing so, if any members are available to assist please contact
race director Steve Franzoni.
Last week the MiL was staged in Fivealley near Birr and but for a small lapse in
concentration, young Tommy Hogan would have finished 2nd in the A/B race. Tommy is
progressing very well and there is no doubt that he will have his day very soon.
