A & B Groups

The period of lovely autumn weather continued into the weekend and as we gathered at HQ for a 9.00 rollout. Group leader Mark Horohoe addressed everybody and reminding them that the transition to slower autumn and winter spins commences next week. The A group had a slightly longer route planned at 100km. We set off on our way which took in Abbeyshrule, Glasson for the coffee stop, Mount Temple, Rosemount, then onto Streamstown and home. The group was well spread out following the last kick for home!

It was a chilly start to this Autumn spin as the well-attended B group left the army barracks at 9am. Long sleeves and gloves were the order of the day. The pace was fast and we made quick time through the towns of Coole and Lismacaffrey towards the tea stop in Ballinalack. After refuelling, we were back on the bikes to Ballinacargy then taking a sharp right to test the legs up Laragh hill. 80km was on clock as we returned to Mullingar with smiles on our faces and the wind on our back.

If you are considering joining or re-joining the club after a long break than from now on is the perfect time as the overall pace and distances of our club cycles will be easing back allowing you to regain fitness with your group. Email secretary@lakesidewheelers.ie for more information on how to join us.

Is Your Bike Winter Ready?

The Autumn/Winter program is not far away now and with that comes the necessity to have a full wraparound rear mudguard for all club spins. Front and rear lights are also necessary. If you haven’t used your winter bike since last season perhaps you could consider having it serviced before it embarks on another Winter season.
