There were several Lakeside Wheelers members participating in sportives over the last couple of weeks. Last Saturday when most of the country was getting drenched by the rain storms we had a contingent cycling the Ring of Beara Challenge in the Cork/Kerry region in sunshine.

On the same day and in similar conditions Mark Monaghan and Karl Moran were in Co. Galway doing the Tour of Connemara.

On Saturday May 20th Charlie Sheridan and Graham Morgan completed the Mount Leinster Sportive in Co. Carlow. The latter two are part of a large group of Wheelers who are in training for the famous La Marmotte cycle which is held in the French Alps in July. Watch out for a more in-depth focus on this group and their plans for an assault on the big mountains of the Tour de France in the coming weeks.

The Mullingar Lions Club are staging their annual charity cycle in aid of the Syrian Children's Schools Education Fundon Monday, June 5th. Participants can do either a 40km or 80km spin with both starting from Shandonagh GAA Centre at 10am. Registration is from 9am and costs €25. There will be refreshments available at the rest stops and back in Shandonagh GAA centre.
