It was a case of Murphy’s Law in the PRO department last week. After spending a considerable amount of time mulling over what to write, the notes were eventually completed, and then, just after hitting the “send” button on the laptop news arrived of some great performances by Wheelers at the Fixx Cyclocross league in Dublin. Better late than never, well done to Pete Rimmer on a fantastic 2nd place in the A2 race which, I believe was a hard fought event.

Race Training

Last Sunday the weather was a bit kinder than in recent weeks resulting in big numbers at the clubhouse for the weekly spin. With the winter training plan well under way the Racing group were out in force paying close attention to heart rates as they rode a hilly route for some endurance miles. This group is steadily improving week on week under the leadership of Eoghan Kevlihan who is structuring the sessions on a plan supplied by one of Ireland’s top coaches Paddy Doran. Paddy held a training seminar for all Wheelers who intend to compete at open races in 2016 so hopefully these structured sessions will help when racing commences in March/April.
