B Group Report - Sun. 20th March

Post date: Mar 20, 2016 11:11:17 PM

About thirty B cyclists gathered at the Clubhouse on a beautiful dry, if a little chilly, spring morning. The peloton was divided into two groups, a “Fast” B group of about twenty cyclists with the remainder following just behind.

With a slight north easterly breeze the route we decided on was Kinnegad, Clonard, Longwood, Trim (tea stop) Ballivor, Raharney and home. With just 10 in the smaller group, Pearse Murphy recruited two regulars who were spotted lurking with the C group. Now as a group of 12, Pearse led his troops out and by all accounts they had an extremely enjoyable spin. This group gelled really well together with everyone doing their turn at the front with seamless up and overs.

On reaching the refuelling station in Trim both groups were united and over tea and scones they had the usual banter with everybody wishing Louise McCarra a very Happy Birthday!

Back at base after a great spin - the only bone of contention was the distance - was it 60 miles or 60 kms. According to Pearse the actual distance was 63 miles i.e. 102 kms at a nice steady 18 mph or if your prefer new money 29 kph. Thanks to all for a really enjoyable spin.
