The club was well represented at the Tour of South Meath today which is hosted annually by Clonard Cycling Club. After sign-on at Mother Hubbards the bunch rolled out at 10am for the 100km spin.

Weather was a little chilly but at least the sun was shining, however, this didn’t last for long. The route brought the riders through Enfield, Kilcock, Summerhill and Dunsany before turning to climb the Hill of Tara. With this peak conquered, the drive was on for the refreshments at Bective outside Navan.

Following the tea-stop, the spin home via Rathmoylan and Kinnegad was hampered by an absolute downpour of rain and hail which left everybody not only extremely wet but, very, very cold. If nothing else it was a timely lesson to dress appropriately from now on as the weather will be so unpredictable.

Overall, this was a good spin and very well organised with static and moto marshalls along the route. This is most likely the final sportive which the club will attend in any numbers in 2016 so, from now on its back to the clubhouse every Sunday for the winter. Well done to all Wheelers and thanks to Clonard CC for their hospitality.

Lakeside Wheelers members who participated: Charlie Sheridan, Pearse Murphy, Joe Kenny, Shay O’Toole, Cathy O’Toole, Jack Nugent and Eamon Corrigan Karl Moran and Robbie Kenny.
