A Group Notes

The A group assembled at the Clubhouse on Sunday morning last and headed west towards Ballymore on what was a crisp dry morning. Winter cycling gear was evident to be seen with that cold feeling in the air. We picked up a "stray" B group member just before Loughnavalley to bring numbers up to 14. We headed left towards Rosemount only for the puncture fairy to strike; club members circled around the unfortunate to make sure he didnt get his hands too dirty. We then cycled through Streamstown and across back roads to Kilbeggan for the break. With everyone fed and watered we rolled onto Durrow, turned at the church over towards Rahugh, Tyrellspass, Rochfortbridge and home via Gainstown. A good rolling 86km was completed at the relaxed pace of just over 28kph. With days and evenings becoming somewhat darker, it would be advisable that all club members use a rear flashing red light, an essential part of a cyclists kit. We wish Mark Monaghan a speedy recovery from an accident on Saturday morning last. Also best wishes to Club racer John Boyne who recently headed on his travels to Melbourne, enjoy the experience John.

National Hill Climbing Championships

Lakeside Wheelers were represented by Mr Brendan Kiernan at the national hill climbing championships hosted by Island Wheelers in Dungannon County Tyrone recently. Brendan performed well in the event and was not far off a podium finish.
