The 2019 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, between 21–27 July 2019. For the second time in as many years, Lakeside Wheelers will have a representative on the Irish team. Following hot on the heels of her sister Caoimhe who participated in the 2017 edition in Gyor, Hungary, Aoife O’Brien has been selected on the Irish team for the 2019 event.

Aoife has come through the tough qualifying series of races over the last few months and has now deservedly achieved her place on the national team. Without doubt this is a fantastic achievement but by no means a surprise. Aoife has worked tirelessly for the last 10 years at her cycling and has made several sacrifices to get herself to this high point in the sport. She is now one of the top junior female cyclists in Ireland and hopefully she will continue to develop over the coming years. Congratulations to Aoife and all of her family who have supported her through thick and thin since she started cycling. Best of luck from all at Lakeside Wheelers Aoife, you have done yourself and your club proud.
