It was a busy and successfull weekend for the Lakeside Wheelers racing team who competeed at three different far flung venues, Ballivor, Athenry and Bunclody.

Ballivor GP

On Saturday 5th July we had a team of 3 competing in the Balivor GP hosted by Navan RC. We were represented in A3 by Charlie Sheridan and David Fagan and in A4 by David Casserly. This was a handicapped race with the A4's setting off first followed by the A3's and then the A1/A2's After a hard evenings racing the best placed Wheelers were David Casserly taking a prize for 2nd unplaced A4 and David Fagan also in the prizes with 2nd unplaced A3.

Galway Classic open Race.

On Sunday 6th July Graham Morgan travelled to Athenry Co. Galway for the Galway Classic. Graham was competing in the A4 catagory which was over 2 laps of a lumpy 30km circuit. A lone Galway Bay rider went clear of the bunch on the final lap. His team mates went to the front of the bunch and slowed the pace down to secure his win. On the run into the finish with 2km to go Graham made a daring breakaway and managed to hold off the bunch on the uphill finish. In doing so he took a well deserved 2nd and his first 7 points as an A4. Well done Graham A3 becons it won't be long now.

Eddie Tobin Memorial Races.

The last race off on the day was round 5 of the Womens National League, which was over 3 laps and we were represented here by Aisling Flanagan, Michelle O'Halloran and Sonja O'Mahony. A lone rider went clear of the bunch on the last lap and stayed away to the finish. The girls worked very well as a team ensuring the bunch stayed together and in the sprint Michelle got 3rd. This result now secures a 3rd place overall in the League for Michelle with 2 rounds still remaining. Thanks to Paul Daly and Stuart (Le Rás) Cox for doing race support on the day. Much appreciated lads.

The bunch stayed together until the uphill sprint with Roy taking a fine 2nd and in doing so secured the 7 points he required for his A3 upgrade. Well deserved Roy well done.

On Sunday 6th July we had a team of 6 in Bunclody Co. Wexford for the Eddie Tobin Memorial Races. A challenging 26km circuit awaited all riders with a 6km climb in each lap, with each catagory completing a different number of laps.

First race off on the day was the A3's and we were represented here by myself and Matt Burke. Both of us put in strong rides but finished outside the points in the main bunch. Next race off was the A4's which was over 3 laps and we were represented here by Roy Carey.
