Aaron Wade Claims Double National Silver Medals

Seamus Kennedy Memorial
On Sunday 21st July Dunboyne CC hosted the Seamus Kennedy Memorial in Co. Meath. Weather conditions were perfect with some 250 riders taking part across all categories. The youth races were ran in the morning with Conor Canton competing in the U16 race. A 20km mainly flat lap was to be completed twice by the 36 strong bunch. The pace was high from the drop of the flag with many attacks but all were brought back in by the bunch. The finish came down to a bunch sprint with Conor claiming an excellent 5th place. Roy Carey represented us in the A4 race which was ran over 3 laps of the 20km circuit. Many breaks were attempted but nothing stuck. The finish came down to a bunch sprint with Roy finishing comfortably in the top end of the bunch. Well done lads.
On Saturday 20th July Junior Aaron Wade traveled to the Sundrive track in Co. Dublin to compete in the Irish National Youth Track Championships. Weather conditions were perfect with blue skies and only a slight wind. It was a very successful Day for Aaron and I'm Delighted to report that he picked up silver for the 100m standing start TT and silver for the 1 lap Sprint. He also came 4th in the scratch race which was run over 4 laps of the 460 meter track. Aaron now has 2 silver National Youth Championship medals to his name. Great Achievement Aaron well done.
Robinstown GP
On Saturday 20th July Navan Road Club hosted the Robinstown GP in Co. Meath. We were represented in A1 by John Murray. This senior race was a handicapped event with A4 riders getting a two minute time gap over the other category riders. The race was reduced from 8 to 6 laps of an 8km circuit because of the intense heat. With soaring temperatures it was extremely tough for cyclists in what was to be a fast and frantic evening's racing. The pace was lightning fast from the beginning with the scratch group catching the A4s on the second lap. A breakaway went clear on lap 4 and stayed away to the finish with John Murray getting 8th. Well done John.
