Wiclow Mountains Charity Challenge

Post date: May 22, 2017 10:26:36 PM

On Saturday 20th May, three Wheelers, Paddy Gorman, Eddie Byrne and Paul Murtagh headed East to Wicklow to take part in a 100KM cycle in aid of St James Hospital across the Wicklow Mountains. It was possible to register on the morning of the event so we decided to chance the weather conditions, travelled to the event base at Russborough House, signed on and headed for some torture.

We cycled from base with a group by the name of Mountain Peddlers from Ballymore Eustace. Heading north towards Blessington and then into the mountains to traverse Sally Gap, the famous Shay Elliot climb at Glenmalure and Slieve Mann. Although we met with some rain and hail on the mountains, this was a very enjoyable event, well organised and some great company to set us on our way.

We landed back at base for a well earned burger with 102KM on the clock and over 1,600m of climbing.
