Nenagh Race report by Graham Morgan

There was a large group of Wheeler's descending on Nenagh for the annual visit to the Nenagh classic. Stuart Cox and Keith Finn rode in the A1 race and both finished comfortably in the bunch, Stuart in particular pulling off some great over taking on the way out of Nenagh to help him stay in touch with the leaders. 160k in the bank towards the Ras in May.

David Casserly rode in the A3 race on a tough course. David rode a good race, finishing comfortably in the bunch. He thought the road surface on the decents were some of the best he has ever come across. His girlfriend also enjoyed her visit to Nenagh but the shops are not up to Mullingar standard and not for the lack of trying, she couldn't spend any of David's money while he was racing. Better luck next race Michelle!

David Nolan, Aidan Daly, Moss Keane, Derek Sheeran, Alan Whelan, Joe Kenny and Graham Morgan represented the Wheelers in the A4 race, a tough 80k route. David Nolan was so eager to get to the hills he tried to get everybody to meet at 7.30 am. An accident at the start of the main climb of the day split the field. Thankfully our riders avoided it and with great team work, Aidan Daly in particular stopping traffic on the opposite side of the road helped Graham get in position to finish 7th in a sprint finish, getting him 2 points closer to the A3 category. The rest of lads just missing out in the bunch sprint.

Sonja O'Mahoney, Michelle O'Halloran, Aisling Flanagan and Siobhan Sheehan represented the ladies race team on the same 80k lap as the A4 race race. The girls rode a solid race and helped Aisling to get close to the front of the race and the run in from Tommevara to Nenagh. Unfortunately she was pipped on the line to finish just outside the points. The girls where excellently backed up by Paul Daly (driver) Eoin O'Donohue (team mechanic) Billy Cunnane (team masseuse/chief sneer!)

All in all, a great days racing on a beautiful sunny April morning.
