Lakeside Wheelers Cycling Mallorca Trip 7th – 11th April

After a long day of travelling our cycling group of eleven arrived in Pollenca, Mallorca. We woke up the next morning to blues skies and sun and set off on our first day of cycling. Cyclists of all ages, levels and nationalities populated the roads. Ably lead by our own Roibeard O’Cheallaigh from Stuart Hall Cycling Tours, our group travelled through lush countryside of fields, vineyards, orange and lemon groves and small Spanish villages. Lunch stop was at Binnisalem. Café con leches, agua, Cokes and jambon sandwiches were the order of the day. We arrived back in Pollenca tired and happy for a cool down drink at a local outdoor seaside bar. Day 2 was another 92 km on the bikes, all feeling a little more confident now on the roads with the traffic at junctions and roundabouts. We divided up on day 3, choosing different groups and distances lead by the cycling guides. Some of the group took a short spin on day 4 to Alcudia, a medieval town south of Pollenca. After a well- earned rest and refreshing sea swim each evening, we all had dinner and drinks along with lots of banter, singing, damhsa Gaeilge and jiving. All in all, it was a successful first cycling trip abroad for the members and plans are afoot for the next one!
