(Cyclocross report by Steven Franzoni)

Round three of the Fixx Coffee House Supercross league took place today in Ballawaley Park Stillorgan. The great turn out from the Wheelers could have been due to the races close proximity to Dundrum Shopping Centre or the ever growing popularity of this easily accessible form of winter racing.

The Fixx series now includes children's races, and in attendance were the O'Mahonys, Careys, Franzoni and O'Hallorans. All the kids seemed to enjoy the race and I suppose I should mention Master Dylan Franzoni's fine third place in the under tens after some aggressive overtaking.

In the B race David Nolan, Billy Cunnane, Peter Rimmer and Paul Crowley represented the club in the men's event. Peter and Billy riding together (?) for most of the day managed to finish in the top ten. In the ladies section Michelle O'Halloran and Sonja O'Mahony showed there usual strength to finish brilliantly. Michelle second in her first race this year was impressive and Sonja was only a few places behind.

In the A race Stuart Cox rolled up to the start in his new category. His win a few weeks earlier had seen him reluctantly upgraded from the B category. Next to him Ritchie Lenehan was prepped for a battle. However this was short lived as a puncture ended his race mid way. Without the benefit of a good start position on the grid Stuart was forced to battle through the pack and ended up in a very credible top twenty position avoiding being lapped by some guy called Robin Seymour.

A great event as always it was good to see the inclusion of a children's race. Look out for an announcement of a similar race series organised by the Wheelers in Mullingar soon.
