Due to another blast of arctic weather the racing calendar suffered more cancellations last Sunday with the Kilmessan GP being one of the events to suffer. However, on Saturday there were no such problems in Carrick on Suir where the Bobby Power Memorial was held in good racing conditions.

This race proved to be good hunting ground yet again for one of Lakeside Wheelers’ most impressive riders, Aaron Wade who followed up on his good form in Kerry last week by taking an excellent 2nd place in the A3 race. Aaron has shown great form so far this year and hopefully he will progress even more as the season goes on.

Aaron was not the only Mullingar rider in Waterford with his former club mate and good friend, Sean Kennedy of the Nicolas Roche Performance Team also taking to the start line but Sean went a step further as he pipped Aaron on the line to claim his first victory in the A3 ranks. This was a fantastic performance by Sean who has shown steady progression over the last two years. The future of Mullingar cycling definitely looks bright with these two young lads blazing a trail on the Junior/A3 scene.

In recent weeks Youths Representative, Camillus Farrell organised an information session on rules and regulations for the younger members who are racing this year. Thanks to club Chairman and Cycling Ireland Commissarie Henry Whitson for facilitating this very worthwhile exercise.
