The Next Midland League report will be on Round 13 which is on Thursday 7th August in Clara starting at 7pm. A minimum of a club competition Licence is required at sign on.
On Thursday 31st July Longford CC hosted round 12 of the Midland League in Legan. A undulating 13km circuit to be completed 3 times awaited all the riders. First race off on the evening was the A/B category. The B's containing 9 riders got a 2.5 min advantage on the chasing A group of 10 riders. The A's got to work quickly and caught the B's after a lap and a half. There were a few attempted breakaways with Wheeler Stuart Cox managing to get clear on lap 3 and stayed away to take the win. There were two additional breakaways on Lap 3 with Eoin Lynch 3rd and Damien Shaw 4th. In the bunch sprint I managed to get 10th.
Next race off on the evening was the CD category with 21 riders signed on across all categories. The D group got a 1 min advantage on the chasing C group with the C+ group a further 3 mins behind. The C's were caught on lap 2 with the D group staying clear until the final lap. In the bunch sprint Michelle O'Halloran was 8th and Andy Vambeck 10th. Well done all.
