The organising committee of the Lakeside Wheelers promoted Mullingar GP held its first meeting last week so plans are now well underway for this annual race taking place on Sunday, July 16th.

As has been the case for the last two years the HQ for this event will be the Multyfarnham Community Centre. The 34km route will also remain the same with the race travelling from Multy to Crookedwood, Castlepollard, Coole and back to Multy. There will be races for all categories including U12’s, U14’s U16’s Ladies, A4’s, A3’s and A1/2’s.

The club is very honoured this year as the race has been chosen as one of the rounds of the Cycling Ireland National Road Race series which means it will be televised at a later date on the Bike channel (Sky 464). If you have already indicated your availability to assist with this race then the organisers will be in touch. If you are free to help and have not yet signed up to do so, please contact Shay O’Toole, Joe Duffy, Jack Nugent or Jerry Waugh. There will be more details about this race in the coming weeks.

For those intending to take part in the Mullingar Grand Prix, online registration is now open can can be accessed from this link.

Midland League:

Congratulations to Paul Murtagh who was victorious in the latest round of the Midland League last Thursday. The Kilbeggan/Clara circuit was the venue where Paul managed to keep the chasing groups at bay to claim a very well deserved win.
