The long racing season is drawing to a close. However, Lakeside Wheelers continue to be represented and featured well in these end-of-season races...

Charleville 2-Day:

The annual Charleville 2-Day race was held over the weekend of 3rd and 4th September . This event is for A2’s/A3’s with a separate race for A4’s and incorporates a road race and TT for each category.

Lakeside Wheelers was represented in the combined A2/A3 race by Eoghan Kevlihan, Brendan Kiernan and Roy Carey with Ronan Bracken and Aidan Gorry flying the club colours in the A4 event. The lads were ably assisted over the weekend by Billy Cunnane on driving and back-up duty.

Despite a tough and challenging circuit the lads all acquitted themselves remarkably well with Roy getting up for a fantastic 9th place on the 85km first stage.

Laragh Classic:

Well done to all Wheelers who competed this year and with the season now coming to a close it will be time to rest, regroup and set the targets for the coming year.

Last Sunday (11th September), the picturesque village of Laragh in Wicklow was the place to be for the last race of the season. This race was also doubling up as the Leinster cycling championships and despite some unforeseen changes to the programme due to another sporting event in the area the race was a big success.

Lakeside Wheelers also had some success with Brendan “Tosh” Kiernan (centre of picture) getting a great 3rd place in the A3 event so well done Tosh. The race was staged over a hilly 24km circuit which the riders had to complete three times.
