D Group Notes Saturday 24th July 2021

"Another baptism of fire for the PRO"

With the holiday period in full swing a small group of 16 die hard D group assembled at O' Briens. There was a slight breeze which was very welcome. For her second outing this Summer our PRO rocked up with that wicked smile she always has. I knew it wouldn't be long before we knocked the smug grin from her face.

The group proceeded out towards Stableford and onto Ballinea. From here it was a steady spin to Dysart and onto Streamstown. On reaching Rosemount we detoured towards Ballyhoran and onto the old Moate - Dublin road - a pleasant scenic route. The coffee stop was pre-booked in Tuar Ard and on arrival Mary had the tables set and plenty of chilled orange squash - must appreciated by all. After the usual scones, jam and cream it was onto the Greenway for the trip home. By Castletown the pace had intensified and a break away group headed for home at a breakneck speed.

Everyone arrived back at base, safe and sound after a very credible 70km. It was only when the PRO arrived home that she found the strength to post some photos. Hopefully it won't be as long before she ventures out again. Notes by Gerry Wallace.. Note from PRO:- (This is not the second outing for the PRO. This is inaccurate reporting by the group leader. She has been out several times with the group since the return of group cycling!
