On Thursday 13th June Tullamore Cycling Club hosted round 6 of the Midland League in Clara Co. Offaly. Lakeside Wheelers were very well represented in all categories. Weather conditions were perfect for racing with dry roads and a slight wind. Due to roadworks at Ballycumber the circuit was once again ran on a 19km lap which had to be tackled twice by all groups.

Well done lads great result. Next Midland League report will be on Round 7 from Mount Temple.

First race off on the evening was the A/B group. The B group containing 14 riders set off first with a 2.5 minute advantage on the Chasing A group containing 10 riders. The A group worked very well together and caught the B group just after Rahan Village on the 2nd lap. There was a few attacks but they were all brought back in by the bunch. The finish came down to a bunch sprint with Robbie Kenny taking 1st, Peter Rimmer 2nd and Billy Cunnane 5th. Next race off on the evening was the C/D category.

The D group containing 7 riders set off first with a 4.5 minute advantage on the chasing C group which contained 20 riders. A 10 man breakaway containing Tosh Kiernan, Aidan Daly and Aidan Farrell went clear of the C group on Lap 1 and after strong riding, they made contact with the D group. They then pulled away from the D group bringing 3 D riders with them. On the last corner before the long uphill finish Tosh forged ahead and managed to bag his first Midland League win, with Aidan Farrell 2nd and Aidan Daly 3rd.
