Another busy weekend for Lakeside Wheelers riders with teams in action on both Saturday and Sunday in Wicklow and Roscommon respectively.

Roundwood Grand Prix

Great Result for David Casserly at Castlecoote Grand Prix

On Saturday 14th we had a team of 3 in Co. Wicklow for the Roundwood GP. We were represented in the A4 category by Brendan Lynch, Derek Sheeran and Graham Morgan. A hilly 54km race distance awaited all the riders and with the great weather conditions there was a large bunch.

All the lads were active throughout the race with all lads in breakaways but all were brought back in by the bunch. There was a crash on the run in to the finish in which Brendan was unfortunate to come down in. Luckily he only sustained cuts and bruises. Both Derek and Graham also got caught up behind the crash which left them out of contention.

On 15th June we had a team of 6 in Co. Roscommon for the Castlecoote Grand Prix. We were represented in A1 by Stuart Cox, in A3 by Eoghan Kevlihan and Matt Burke and in A4 by David Casserly, David Nolan and Roy Carey. A 16km lumpy circuit awaited all the riders with the A1's completing 7 laps, A3's 5 laps and A4's 4 laps.

All the lads put in strong performances with the best placed wheeler on the Day being David Casserly who finished 5th in the bunch sprint of the A4 race. David earned his first 4 points as an A4 and I have no doubt it will take him long to get his upgrade to A3. Well done also to David Nolan who was competing in his first A4 open race and who finished comfortably in the bunch.
