Last Sunday saw the start of the winter training plan for the A and B groups. This plan will be in place throughout the off-season and is aimed at all riders who wish to improve their fitness and endurance for racing and sportive riding next year.

The plan has been prepared by Mark Horohoe with input from fellow group leaders Mark Monaghan, Bob O’Ceallaigh, Eugene Duffy and David Lally. From now until next April the group spins will be structured and focus on long slow rides, hilly terrain and after Christmas the intensity will increase and rides will include harder efforts.

With a cool but dry morning there were several members in attendance last Sunday for the 85km spin to Edenderry via Kinnegad and home vie Rhode and Tyrrellspass.

It was great to see a few of the club’s Youths and Junior riders out on the spin and if the truth be known, they were putting it up to the “elder lemons”! Thanks to Damien O’Brien for providing back-up to the younger brigade.
