On Thursday 5th June Shannonside CC hosted round 6 of the Midland League in Mount temple. The committee decided to upgrade some of the riders in each category with all A3 riders now required to sign on in the A group. For the first time also an extra lap was added to all races bringing the total distance up to 55kms. Weather conditions on the evening were perfect with the sun shining and only a slight wind to contend with. Yet again there was a great turn out of Wheelers across all categories.

The next Midland League report will be on Round 7 which is taking place in Dysart on Thursday 12th June starting at 7pm. Minimum of a club competition licence is required at sign on.

3 D riders stayed away to the finish to take the top placings. Michael Walshe yet again attacked the bunch on the uphill sprint finish and was rewarded with 1st. Well done all.

The next race off was the C/D race with a total of 32 riders

signing on. The committee also decided to shake the racing up a bit with the C group being split in two. The D group riders got a 2 minute advantage on the chasing C group with the C+ group a further minutes behind. The C+ group caught the C's on the 2nd lap and all got to work at chasing down the D's.

First race off on the evening was the A/B race. The B group containing 14 riders got a 2 minute advantage on the chasing A group which contained 16 riders. The A group got to work quickly and had the B group caught on lap 2.

There were a few attempted breakaways with a 5 man break eventually going clear on the last lap and in the uphill sprint to the finish Stuart Cox was 1st and Billy Cunnane 3rd. In the bunch sprint Tosh Kiernan was 8th and Richie Lenehan 10th.
