B Notes 08/05/2022

On a sunny Sunday morning 19 B Lakeside Wheelers cyclists assembled in the army barracks near their club HQ. Two groups were formed. This was a welcome return to their home base after the turbulent trials and tribulations of the COVID-19 era. Preliminary chat over we headed for Turin on the new Mullingar to Delvin road with the wind at our backs at a tasty pace. We then turned left and headed for Crookedwood. Before reaching the wood we headed north to Fore through Colllinstown. With the drag out of Fore behind us we rolled onto Castlepollard for a well earned cup of coffee. From there we headed to Coole and onto Multyfarnham, back into Crookedwood up by the hurling pitch and on towards Mullingar via Crazy Corner on lovely undulating country roads. The only sting in the tale here was that we were cycling headfirst into the southerly breeze which certainly ensured we earned our lunch / brunch / dinner. 80 kms on the clock on hilly course was the final tally.
