Home And Away for Group A in Recent Weeks

Last week, A-Group leader Eoghan Kevlihan organised a day’s mountain-biking in the Mourne mountains. This session was described as a “bonding” exercise and coincided with the first rest-week on the training plan in 2016. The 11 lads were extremely impressed with the facilities in Rostrevor, Co. Down and all enjoyed the day out. Highlights on this trip included the views over Carlingford Lough, the warm showers after being caught in a snow blizzard, the few pints on the way home and surprisingly, the singing by Dave Fagan and David Casserly.

This week it was back to business with the intensity of training increasing considerably as the groups tackled loops of the Dalystown, Kilbeggan, Tyrellspass route. This year’s training plan was devised in consultation with Paddy Doran who has coached international cyclists in the past and with everyone embracing the changes, it appears a lot of progress is being made. Congrats to all concerned and as the racing season is fast approaching there will be lots of interest in the Wheelers racing team this year.
