Alan Nevin traveled to Monasterevin in Co.Kildare to represent Lakeside Wheelers in the Ned Flanagan Memorial Race on Sunday 16th February. This race gives riders their first opportunity to gauge their form against the opposition after the long off season and hard winters training.

Alan Lined up in the A3 bunch for the 60km of a mainly flat course over one big loop which started and finished in Monasterevin. The bunch split after 30km and the breakaway stayed away to take to top placings. A crash 500m from the finish put paidto a lot of people's hopes of a few early season points. The race was won by Bikeworx rider Ciaran Kelly, who rode the last 20km of the race solo, having given the breakaway the slip.

Alan Nevin managed to escape the carnage of the crash and finished some 30 seconds behind the leaders. Well done Alan and a great start to the seasons racing.

Next weeks races are the Traders Cup in Dundalk and the West Coast Wheelers Open Race in Loughrea in which we hope to have a few Wheelers competing.
