D Group Report Saturday 15th May 2021
After a long Covid restriction on group cycling, Saturday was the first official re-union of the D group. A large number of our regular group assembled at O' Briens and, mindful of keeping the group numbers to a minimum Tom Carolan & Maurice Molloy took the first group out. Hot on their heels the second group was taken in hand by Dave and Gerry. The one main concern with the group was the lack of cycling over the last 5 months and fitness levels. There was nothing to worry about, the route chosen was a mix of slight hills with long level roads and it was not long before both groups converged on Killare. From here it was a short spin to Streamstown station and a well deserved "alfresco" coffee stop. Groovy Grub has set up a mobile unit serving excellent tea/coffee and sugary treats. It's a great mid-way point for a coffee and catch up. Wishing the owner/operator every success with their new business venture. If you're heading to Streamstown make sure to look them up.After a well deserved break the groups headed homeward on the Greenway. The groups completed a very enjoyable 44km. Wednesday evening spins will also be re-commencing soon. See the website for details.
