After taking 4th place on stage 2 two weeks ago, well done to Roy Carey who won stage 3 of the club league. Newcomer Eoin Mooney claimed second place just ahead of junior rider, Ross Kiernan who showed his talent with an excellent 3rd Place.

In the red category Damien Shaw and Peter Rimmer in a 2-man breakaway rode steady to stay clear of the chasers to be the first red category riders home – and 9th and 10th place overall on the night. In the closing stages of the last lap Paul Crowley pulled away from the chasing group to claim 3rd in the Red Category.

In the Yellow category finish Karl Moran had the power in the sprint to claim 1st Yellow category spot by a bike length, flowed by Paddy Whelan and David Shaw.  Mick Reynolds lead the chasing pack of red and yellow category riders home in a photo finish sprint for the line.

On stage 3 Eoghan Kevlihan  took the role of Race Organiser and Damien O’Brien the role of Head Marshal. Both men deserve praise for the exceptional job they did with everything running well on the night in the orange high viz jackets. Carmel Dolan looked after the video finish.

As you know, the club league is a development league and riders may be moved up or down a category colour or starting group within a category at any stage during the league.  As there are points for every position, even if your group is caught by a faster group there is still an incentive to keep racing, and this seen sprint finishes from almost every group to finish.

Stage 3 was a bonus night for the Yellow category – with additional points available for the top 3 yellow category riders to finish – 1ST + 6 points , 2nd +4 points, 3rd +2 points. There is a bonus stage for the Red category to come later in the league so check the stage details.

    League Positions:
Blue Category: 1. Mick Hynes 2. Pearse Corroon 3. Elaine Purdue
Yellow Category: 1.Brendan Kiernan 2. James Cribbin 3. Demot Hogan
Red Category: 1. Paul Crowley 2. Colm Lynch 3. Mickey Dan Murtagh

Overall: 1. Paul Crowley - Paul wears the Overall Leaders white jersey for the next stage.

Just A few Items To Mention
Thanks to everyone who parked at the church – we will continue to keep the Pub car park reserved for riders assembly and lead cars only. Please comply with marshals and assemble with your bike in the car park so we are not a nuisance/danger on the road while the race is starting. Please ensure all litter is take home with you – especially energy gel/bar wrappers.

Handicapping is not an exact science. The aim is to give everyone in so far as possible an equal and fair chance in the league. It will never be perfect but with constantly tweaking it will get more accurate as the league progresses. Considerable analysis has been done in advance (including advice from the Group Leaders) to pre-handicap the full club membership. Riders may be moved up or down a colour category as deemed necessary at any stage. Riders who start in a group other than that announced by the Race Organiser will not be given points for that event.
