The Lakeside Wheelers summer race league kicked off on Friday evening 29th April. The first event up was a Time Trial on the N52. "The race of truth" attracted twenty three entrants - not bad for a bank holiday weekend. The event was won with a brilliant performance from Alan Connolly who completed the course in a blistering 11.24, followed up by an equally impressive performance by David Boyne on a standard road bike in 11.48 and Steve Franzoni in 12 minutes to complete the podium.

Aisling Flanagan was first lady with a time of 13.46.  As good as these performances were, a new time trial star was born in Roibeard O'Ceallaigh. Roibeard normally known for his ability to climb like Chris Froome now can time trial like him too as he beat Eamon Hogan by 29 seconds and Michael Reynolds by 24 seconds respectively.

Lets hope the Kilkenny run in the hurling championships don't blunt Roibeard's form as it has in previous seasons.
