Matt Burke takes Stage 6 of the Summer LeagueMatt Burke, recently upgraded to the Yellow Category, took his second win of 2011, by a tyre width, from Eric Smith. Tom McDonagh (Blue Category), took 3rd just 4 seconds later and was followed by Nigel Scarff and Cathy O’Toole.

William McDonagh and Karl Moran lead the next yellow group to finish. Barry and Colin Pierce lead the faster Yellow group to the line.

Damien Shaw showed his fitness by making a lone break away to finish alone to take 1st place in the
red category. Damien O’Brien took 2nd in the Red category followed by Ken Berry and Mark
Monaghan.

David Mitchell, Kenny (Head Marshal) and Kevin Marshal (Race Organiser) took on the key positions on this stage. Carmel Dolan filmed proceedings and the race finish with Kevin Marshal did an excellent job of identifying the finishing positions.

Remember its riders best 7 point scoring events (out of a possible 8) that will determine the final league positions. Some riders have not missed and event so the positions may change when just the 7 best points are counted. The leader board has now been sorted by riders best 5 of 6 points scores. See the points summary on the league table to see how the positions might change.

The leaders white jersey will again stay with Stuart Cox for Stage 7. Stuart is just one point ahead of Damien Shaw and Robbie Kenny is just 9 points behind Damien.

League Positions (Based on best 5 of 6 results):
Blue Category:      1. Claire Malone 2. Oliver Bright 3. Cathy O’Toole
Yellow Category:   1. JP Kilmurray 2. David Shaw 3. Karl Moran
Red Category:       1. Stuart Cox 2. Damien Shaw 3. Robbie Kenny
Overall:                   1st Stuart Cox 2nd Damien Shaw 3. Robbie Kenny

Please check the marshal rota to ensure you are aware of your allotted marshalling night. We ask that swaps are only done when the situation arises that you cannot attend the event. Please don’t swap nights unless really necessary. Race Organisers/Head Marshals are not available for swaps. As before please contact Mark Monaghan (marksmono@gmail.com / 087 9656778) to update the rota if you must swap and have arranged swap with someone else.

As per league rules, riders may be moved up or down a colour category as deemed necessary at any time in the league. No special training is needed to take part in the league.

The next stage of the club league is Wednesday July 27th. Sign-on opens at 6.30pm
