On Sunday 17th June Lakeside Wheelers had a team of 5 heading to Castlecoote Village in Roscommon for the Donamon GP. With 120km on the cards for A1 80km for A3 and 64km for A4, we were represented in A1 by John Murray in A3 by Damien O'Brien, Dave Fagan, and Paul Crowley and in A4 by Moss Keane. A fantastic 16km circuit awaited the riders in sunny conditions with a very light sprinkling of rain at the beginning.

 

All 5 riders acquitted themselves very well getting into breaks all day but all races came down to bunch sprints. Moss Keane lead out the bunch to the Finish in the A4 race and managed to get 7th in the Sprint. Well Done Moss great result!

Mondello Park Open Race Series
On Tuesday last (June 19th) we had representation in the Mondello race series in the guise of Damien O’Brien, Robbie Kenny, Ken Berry and Billy Cunnane in A3 and Karl Moran and Mark Monaghan in A4 The race takes place on the full Mondello circuit and is handicapped with the A4’s taking to the line first followed by all the other categories at different time intervals.

 

Right from the get go it’s full throttle (pardon the pun) with all groups racing helter skelter over the course for one hour plus 5 Laps with the race coming together with four laps to go.  With many of the A1’s closing the gap across it wasn’t long before the attacks came and splintered the front of the bunch. Well done to all wheelers who finished comfortably in the bunch.
