posted 16 Jun 2014, 08:43 by Kevin Monaghan
On Thursday 12th June it was our turn to host round 7 of the Midland League in Dysart. Weather conditions were yet again perfect with a large number of Wheelers signed on across all categories. First race off on the evening was the A/B race. The B group containing 14 riders got a 1.5 minute advantage on the chasing A group which contained 16 riders. The A group got to work quickly and caught the B group on lap 3. There were a few attempted breakaways but the finish came down to a bunch sprint with Peter Rimmer 3rd and Steven Franzoni 7th.

The next race off was the C/D race with a total of 32 riders signing on. The D group of riders got a 1 minute advantage on the chasing C group with the C+ group a further 30 seconds behind. The C+ group caught the C's on the 1st lap and all got to work at chasing down the D's. The D group were caught on lap 2 with the bunch then staying together to the finish. In the bunch sprint Michael Walshe was 1st, David Casserly 3rd, Stephen Corroon 4th, Aisling Flanagan 7th, David Boyne 9th and Moss Keane 10th. Well done all.

The next Midland League report will be on Round 8 which is a 40km TT which is taking place in Birr on Thursday 19th June starting at 7pm. Minimum of a club competition licence is required at sign on.
