Aoife O'Brien All-Ireland Community Games Podium

posted 24 Aug 2014, 15:42 by Kevin Monaghan
On Saturday 16th August, Aoife O'Brien from Multyfarnham represented Westmeath in the All Ireland Community Games
in a 2k grass race.  Aoife was the youngest participant in the under 12. In  total there were 25 competing from all over Ireland.

Aoife came in third place on Saturday which secured her place in the final on Sunday.  The final was to be fought out by 8 very determined girls.  Aoife was at a slight disadvantage given the fact that she was on the outside lane however this did not deter her.  She went off very strong and getting into fifth  place going into the first bend this was to prove to be a good decision as she held this position  on lap two and three.

On lap four and five she moved up to fourth place and held this place to cross the line this insured that she placed on the podium.  Well done Aoife, You represented Lakeside Wheeler's with pride.  Keep it up.
