Well done to our Wheelers Gaelforce participants, Muirna Walsh, Mairtin Savage, Wendy Bates, Jp O’Brien, Joe Keavney and Richie Lenehan. I spoke to Muirna about how hard the event was...

“the run was not really like the run training we had done, the ground was uneven you were basically jumping over rocks and wet ground! The cycle was hilly and the descents were full of potholes, you were just hoping you didn’t get a puncture. Crogh Patrick was actually fun, I must have fell about 5 times on the way down but at that stage I was covered in mud so it didn’t matter! Finishing was good, we enjoyed the race it was a challenge!”

All of the wheelers finished in around the 6 hour mark which was a really good time, some participants were racing for 11 hours! The winner completed the race in 3 hours 34 minutes and Padraig Marrey who has coached several wheelers finished a close second in 3 hours 36 minutes.
